Sol and Luna are the faster, more affordable members of OpenAI's GPT-6 family. OpenAI trained them with similar methods to GPT-6 Astra, its largest model, and says the gains show up in factuality, coding, professional work and alignment. In plain terms: more of Astra's quality, at the speed a study session needs.

GPT-6 Sol: fewer mistakes where it matters

The headline number from OpenAI is simple. GPT-6 Sol makes about half as many mistakes as GPT-5.6 Sol, the model Ultra AI used until today. On a multi-step maths problem, a proof, a chemistry calculation or a stubborn bug, one wrong step early on is the difference between a right answer and a confident wrong one, so this is the improvement we care about most.

Sol also still lets you decide how long it thinks. Pick Faster for an instant reply from the most capable model, Balanced when a problem deserves a few more seconds, or Deep for the hardest questions.
